Biography
It is common for artists to say that they have been drawing their entire lives. It's true for me, as well, but in a different sense: I have never taken a formal art class until I went to high school. My entire childhood was full of drawing based on observation, things that I saw and heard and felt - it was a way to escape my anxiety. Funny thing it, art was largely discouraged in my family. Growing up I was told that it was a useless skill - you can't really make anything that could be used when you're an artists. In high school, however, I decided to go out on a limb and sign up for art. It was probably the best decision of my life because I had found a place where I actually fit in and a hobby that I loved doing! But, that's all art was to me: a hobby. It wasn't until the beginning of senior year that I started considering it as a career path. Future wise, I would love to work as a concept artist for a production company or as a writer and illustrator.
